Credits (The Band)
John "J.T." Thomas - Keyboard/Organ
John "JT" Thomas
was born in the arid desert of Southern California. Far from being parched by
his environment, his juicy keyboard style landed him a spot at the age of twenty
in the infamous Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band! This allowed him to express
and explore a level of creativity unknown to most young musicians. Several years
later he was initiated into the seminal "synth" band, Sparks. In 1990, "JT" was
invited to join Bruce Hornsby’s Band. He has been playing with and contributing
to Hornsby’s recordings and shows ever since. John has also won multiple
gold and platinum recordings with Tracy Chapman, Bruce Hornsby, Rita Coolidge,
Captain Beefheart and Sparks!! His performances with Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt,
Sheryl Crow, Michael Bolton, Emmylou Harris and others, has earned him a reputation
as a multidimensional artist. John is as equally in demand as a composer, too!
His name is frequently seen whizzing by in the credits of your favorite television
shows. John originally met David Landia when both were involved in the formation
of an LA blues/rock band. That project marked the beginning of a strong friendship
that has blossomed into a very powerful partnership! John is now the driving
force behind what is being created at LandiaMusic. His production and engineering
skills, combined with his awesome keyboard talent , make him the ultimate weapon
in delivering this new style of pop music.
Bobby Read - Sax
In
his 30 years in music, Bobby has covered a lot of territory. A saxophone,
woodwind and keyboard player with training from the New England Conservatory
and a long-time performer, he has produced, engineered or played

the DC-based progressive rock band, However, and later joined the
the eclectic 'chamber-folk' group Trapezoid. He played for many years
at John D'earth's Thursday night jazz gig at Miller's in Charlottesville.
He has produced and collaborated with numerous jazz, folk and rock
musicians. Since 1993 he has recorded and toured as a member of the
Bruce Hornsby Band. Bobby is on Hornsby's last four studio

JV Collier - Bass
JV
Collier, aka (Poppy Alexander) - I use Peavey Basses and Amplifiers,
Smith Basses, Modulus Basses and Dean Markley Strings. I grew up
in Detroit, Michigan where I started playing music in the 5th grade.
My first instrument was the trombone, but no girls would kiss a
trombone player, so I switched to the bass in Jr. High School.
My instructors were some of the great Motown recording musicians,
James Jamerson, Earl Van Dyke, and Marcus Belgrave. That's where
my professional work started. Since then I've enjoyed playing with
many different artists, Was (Not) Was, Gladys Knight, The Pointer
Sisters, The Temptations, Paul Young, and of course Bruce Hornsby.
I enjoy playing in this band with Bruce and the guys because the
music is challenging and above all we have a good time. Visit www.jv-bass.com.
Doug Derryberry - Guitar
Music
has been a constant thread through Doug's life. After a wonderful
childhood rich in musical experiences Doug wound up at Georgetown
University studying international affairs. Though his penchant
for musical endeavor had not abated, he decided his parents were
right about needing to pursue a "sensible
and legitimate" vocation. But he couldn't help it. Within
the first week of being at Georgetown Doug landed his first pro
gig playing and singing in the piano bar at Mr. Smith's in Georgetown
2-3 nights a week. He held this position for most of freshman year
which enabled him to buy his first electric guitars, amps and PA
gear. Also within that first week, Doug met and befriended John
Alagia. They soon formed a band and ultimately pursued all sorts
of musical projects as a team from that point on. In addition to
producing and releasing 3 CDs of their own band, Derryberry & Alagia,
they worked in the studio with tons of other bands like Vertical
Horizon Everything, Edwin McCain Band, Dave Matthews Band, Ben
Folds Five, moe, Agents of Good Roots, Shannon Worrell, Gibb Droll
Band, Jackopierce, Earth to Andy, Keller Williams and many, many
more. In early '98 Doug's life took another exciting turn when
his place in Vertical Horizon introduced him to Bruce Hornsby.
Doug got an audition and was hired and has been thrilled to be
making music on stages and in the studio with Bruce and the band
ever since. Currently, Doug is living in Brooklyn where he has
recently become the proud and very excited owner of 33 and a Third
Recording Studio in Brooklyn. Acquisition of this very cool recording
space is the final piece of the puzzle Doug has been looking to
compliment his prodigious skill set as a producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist,
arranger and songwriter. Doug eagerly looks forward to continuing
producing and creating music with the plentiful host of great music
purveyors New York and the rest of the world will inevitably place
in his path. Visit www.dougderryberry.com.

jazz performance. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to
