Funhouse Fest goes on hiatus in 2019

After three great years in Williamsburg, we have decided to put Funhouse Fest on hiatus in 2019.  We’re grateful to everyone at the Virginia Arts Festival, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the city of Williamsburg, the artists, the vendors and especially all the fans who joined to help us create so many memories together.  Bruce will spend the new year dedicating himself to some ambitious new projects while our friends at Virginia Arts Festival will continue to bring exciting performances to Colonial Williamsburg this summer.  We can’t thank you enough for all your support and look forward to sharing updates with you soon!

Bruce Contributes To New Spike Lee Movie

blackkklansman-poster.jpg

Bruce and Spike Lee add another chapter to their collaborative history with BLACKkKLANSMAN, Spike’s new film which opens in theaters today. Bruce created piano music to accompany scenes from the movie The Birth of a Nation.  Speaking about his history with Spike, Hornsby noted in a recent interview: "One of my deepest collaborations through the years has been my working relationship with Spike Lee, for the last 26 years. For the last ten I’ve been scoring films for him, and during that time I’ve probably written 190 different musical cues. Some of those cues have sounded like potential songs to me, and I’ve expanded several of them into new songs. So that has very clearly opened up my songwriting, mostly in the last two years. Writing 'on assignment' forces one to create, and so this has been a great catalyst for me."

Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers Summer Tour Begins Thursday!

Bruce photo.jpg

Bruce and his band hit the road this week to kick off their summer tour.  Joining the Noisemakers line-up this summer are new members Chad Wright (drums) and John Mailander (fiddle/mandolin).  We couldn't be more excited to welcome them to the family.  The band is already in fine form coming off *FIVE* sold out nights in May at City Winery in Nashville and New York City where they debuted a few new songs and worked their way through Bruce's storied catalog.  As always, the audience's requests took the band in some interesting and unexpected places.

Among the highlights this summer is the return to Funhouse Fest, Bruce's annual multi-day event in Colonial Williamsburg produced in partnership with the Virginia Arts Festival.  Funhouse Fest takes place June 22nd and 23rd and once again features a diverse line-up curated by Bruce.  Friday night will feature Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers and 27-time Grammy Award winner Alison Krauss, plus a special performance by the Virginia Symphony String Quartet on the second stage.  On Saturday, Bruce will team with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for the Virginia debut of Bruce's new symphonic program which explores some of his most timeless compositions and newer works.  Amos Lee, The Wood Brothers and Deva Mahal are among the other featured main stage artists on Saturday while Chris Forsyth, Gibb Droll and Angela on the Arts (featuring John D'earth) will perform on the festival's second stage.  Tickets, including VIP & Elite Experience options, for Funhouse Fest are on-sale now at FunhouseFest.com.  It's a weekend not to be missed!

In addition to Funhouse Fest, other highlights include a handful of performances with The Wood Brothers and a run of dates in the Northeast with Los Lobos.  See the tour dates page for all of Bruce's upcoming dates and links for ticket purchase.  We hope to see you out on the road this summer!

Funhouse Fest Returns to Colonial Williamsburg, June 22 & 23rd!

Funhouse Fest is back!  The multi-day music festival presented by Bruce Hornsby in partnership with the Virginia Arts Festival returns for the third consecutive year to the Lawn of the Art Museums in Colonial Williamsburg on June 22nd & 23rd.  The event will once again feature two stages worth of thrilling performances hand-picked by Bruce, who will also present two unique sets of his own.

Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers will kick the festival off on Friday evening with a main-stage performance drawing from Bruce's thirty-plus year career.  We're delighted to announce 27-time Grammy award winner and 7-time CMA award winner Alison Krauss will close out the main-stage Friday evening.  The genre-defying musician released her latest album, Windy City, in 2017 to critical acclaim.  On Saturday, Bruce Hornsby and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra will partner to present the Virginia debut of Bruce's adventurous new orchestral program which utilizes the modern classical musical language in a pop song context and includes several of his beloved compositions.  We're also thrilled to announce the masterful Americana trio The Wood Brothers will perform on Saturday as well.  Stay tuned for many more performer additions to be shared over the coming weeks!

Claim your Funhouse Fest tickets early via the Fan Pre-Sale now underway at http://brucehornsby.shop.ticketstoday.com.  Tickets to the festival go on sale officially beginning Friday, February 2nd at 10am ET.  Don't miss out -- this year's Funhouse Fest is shaping up to be the best yet!
